The Zenith Defy Chroma II sub-collection, consisting of two limited edition timepieces, is the follow-up to last year’s debut watch. This multi-color watch was previously only available in white ceramic, but the new edition is really a pair of models that include a black version.
There’s little doubt that we’re looking at a modernistic and edgy style of design here. Far from the vintage codes of the Chronomaster or Pilot’s collections, and far from the Elite range’s dictated elegance. The Defy 21 Chronograph is contemporary, and the Chroma II timepieces are bold and outspoken.

The technical foundation is unchanged from the previous version, which was launched last year. This translates to a big barrel-shaped case with a circular raised bezel on top, measuring 44mm in diameter and 14.5mm in height. The watches are worn on rubber bands with cordura-effect inlays and rainbow-colored stitching.
The profile is defined by two enormous rectangular pushers and an oversized crown. The strap’s form follows the contours of the case to achieve the intended “integrated luxury sports watch” appearance. The biggest difference between this and the MK1 Chroma is that you can now obtain both a matte white ceramic and a brushed and polished black ceramic model.
The main difference between these new models and the previous ones is the colour. Despite continuing to use rainbow tones as a basis, the new models are distinct. The black ceramic version offers a variety of tones based on primary colours and a yellow rubber insert on the crown, while the white ceramic version has brighter highlights with an emphasis on blues and pinks and a blue rubber insert on the crown.
This effect may be observed on the hour markers, hands, and via the open dial, which shows the movement’s bridges. Each is completed in a distinct metallic colour that corresponds to the gradation of the dial’s markings.
These models are powered by an in-house El Primero 9004 automatic with dual escapements and double barrels. The chronograph escapement beats at 50 Hz (360,000 vph), while the time escapement beats at 5 Hz (36,000 vph), enabling exact 1/100th of a second timing. The two barrels give a power reserve of 50 hours and up to an hour of continuous chronograph time.
It contains 53 jewels and is TIME LAB chronometer-certified. The rotor is designed like the Zenith star and has a satin blue finish, with a pink PVD coating on an extra component. Central hours, minutes, and 1/100thchronograph seconds, a 30-minute counter, a 60-second counter, tiny seconds, and power reserve indication are the functions that you can find on these new models.
