As Zenith began celebrating the 50th anniversary of the seminal El Primero chronograph caliber, the team at their manufacture began to go through the secret walled-off attic where Charles Vermont had once hidden all the plans and parts necessary to produce the El Primero movement.

Among the countless artifacts was a box, and in it, the original prototype of the black chronograph that no one had seen since the early 1970s. For the team, surely this couldn’t be a coincidence, but fate calling. It enthusiastically agreed that the timing was perfect to complete the black chronograph project that had begun almost 50 years ago.
Inspired by an obscure black Zenith chronograph from 1970, the Chronomaster Revival Shadow is crafted in a fully matte titanium case based on the iconic A386 paired with a black and grey dial. It doesn’t feature a date display, a rarity for a watch with an El Primero movement.
The case of this watch comes with highly durable-lightweight titanium in 37mm diameter, just like their exclusive MR PORTER edition. The matte tonneau case features a micro-blasted finish, and it brings out dark, stealthy grey nuances of the case. To fit the modernity, the watch is fitted with an exhibition sapphire case back and 50m of water-resistant.
The dial is featured with grey counters textured with a concentric pattern and tachymeter scale subtly contrasting the matte grey background. Meanwhile, the hands are coated with luminescent material for low light visibility—the perfect modern monochromatic dial design with great readability.
This watch is powered by the iconic El Primero Chronograph 4061, an automatic movement that features a high-frequency, integrated column-wheel chronograph, horizontal clutch, and has 50 hours of power reserve. The movement supports the hours, minutes, second, and chronograph with the central second, 30 minute and 12 hour counter function.
To complete the Zenith Chronomaster Revival El Primero A384, there’s a black rubber strap embossed with a Cordura effect and white stitching on the side. The strap is fitted with a micro-blasted titanium pin buckle. The combination of lightweight titanium and a rubber strap makes it very comfortable on the wrist.
