Zenith is revealing a part of their new collections for 2022 in LVMH Watch Week this year, following a huge success at LVMH Digital Week in 2021. With the debut of a faithful re-edition of the original coffre-fort Defy that established the brand in 1969, as well as the new Defy Skyline with El-Primero powered running 1/10th second feature, Zenith’s attention for 2022 has been squarely on the Defy line. Zenith has also delved into the rainbow dial drawer for a new Defy 21 Chroma and two new dials for the Defy Midnight range.

Defy Skyline
Zenith is recognized for their expertise in hi-beat technology, with calibers capable of measuring extremely small increments. Zenith made it very clear in their statements when the Zenith Defy Revival A3642 was unveiled at LVMH 2022 that it was only the beginning of what was to come for the Defy series. The Zenith Defy Skyline series combines the stylistic aspects of the original 1969 Defy watch with current variants.
There’s a lot to like about this stainless-steel sports watch, with its redesigned “starry sky” patterned dial, all-new 1/10th of a second counte and improved case form with octagonal profile and 12-sided bezel.
Defy 21 Chroma
The new Zenith Defy 21 Chroma is a dramatic, vivid celebration of the whole spectrum, with a matte white ceramic case that mimics pure white marble. The payoff is worth the effort, with amazing scratch resistance, razor-sharp case lines, and a considerably reduced weight. The 44mm case is also 100 meters water resistant, which is unusual for a chronograph without screwdown pushers. The Chroma’s rainbow varnished dial and case are only part of the story.
A 50Hz escapement for the 1/100th of a second chronograph and a 5 Hz Hi-Beat escapement for the time indicators are included in this limited edition of 200 pieces.
Defy Extreme Carbon
The Defy Extreme Carbon is the strongest and most daring of Zenith 2022’s LVMH Watch Week debuts, is light on the wrist but a genuine heavyweight in terms of features. The 45mm carbon and micro-blasted titanium case is bold and powerful, yet it’s still very light on the wrist. Its diameter is moderated by a lug-to-lug dimension of 51mm, and it is not too thick at 15.4mm.
Defy Midnight Borealis and Sunset
The Defy Midnight is now brighter and fiercer than ever before, with vibrant Borealis and Sunset settings that will inject some much-needed color into our lives. The dial of the Midnight Sunset transitions from a warm red to a deep purple that “recalls the brief yet spectacular sky when the sun sheds its final rays of light before giving way to night.”
The Midnight Borealis, with its rich blue dial that fades to dazzling emerald green, is another watch that seeks to mimic the northern lights phenomena. The hour markers are magnificent cut diamonds, and the watch is both attractive and eye-catching. You’ll also get three replaceable bands packed with the bracelet, enabling you to wear one watch as four.
