Audemars Piguet started in 1875 at the heart of the Vallee de Joux that is known as a region that beats to the tune of complicated watch mechanisms. What makes them different from any other watchmakers is they remain as an independent family business and their consistently for making rare, precious and unique creations.

More than 140 years of mastering the conception, construction and production of complications, Audemars Piguet comes with some of the best watch collections around, but these are our top three recommendations for 2020.

CODE 11.59

Back in 2019, Audemars Piguet introduced an entirely new family of watches named CODE 11.59. More than half decade, CODE 11.59 has been in the works to offer a whole new collection to the lineup to sit alongside the Royal Oak, Millenary, and any other collection.

The name of CODE 11:59 comes from an acronym that stands for “Challenge, Own, Dare, Evolve,” and the “11:59” timestamp representing the final moment before a brand new day, presumably the milestone that AP believes it has just laid down.

The round case features an octagonal middle case that is inspired by its long history of form and design experiments. The openworked lugs are welded to an extra thin bezel in perfect alignment. This collection also features a new optical experience with a contemporary double curved sapphire crystal, whose tense, arched profile plays with depth, perspective and light for a unique optic experience.

This new family comes with six original new models with 3 new movements that split into 13 references. Those references include Selfwinding Chronograph, Perpetual Calendar, Tourbillon Openworked, Minute Repeater Supersonnerie, Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Chronograph and Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon.

Royal Oak

When Audemars Piguet unveiled the Royal Oak in 1972, luxury timepieces were usually small and made of gold, but the brand broke these rules, forever defying with conventions, with this first luxury sports timepiece honed from steel.

Its powerful look ushered in a revolutionary avant-garde style that has since become its trademark. Across its night in 50 years of its existence, this modern horological icon upholds the innovation and excellence embodied by Audemars Piguet.

With its steel case, octagonal bezel, “tapisserie” dial and integrated bracelet, the Royal Oak overturned the prevailing codes in 1972 and took its rightful place as a true modern icon. The most iconic aspect of the Royal Oak collection is its recognisable octagonal bezel shape attached with eight hexagonal screws.

Designing a supremely comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, the case is an art involving a highly technical production process. Beyond the octagonal bezel with eight screws, the trademark dial featuring the “tapisserie” pattern particularly makes it stand out from the crowd.

This collection features some models and complications like Perpetual Calendar Openworked, Perpetual Calendar, “Jumbo” Extra Thin, Selfwinding and Selfwinding Chronograph.

Millenary

The Millenary Collection, designed in 1995, provides a new three-dimensional take on the calibre. The oval case and off-centred dial tie technical prowess to neo-classical beauty and invite the wearer to look right into the heart of the piece’s singular mechanism.

Watchmaking, art, and design come together in a perfectly orchestrated play on perspective and balance, giving birth to a unique piece which is most firmly rooted in the third millennium.

This collection powered by the calibre 4101 that was reversed to enable the dial side to display components that are usually hidden. The off-centred dial ties technical prowess to neo-classical beauty and invites the wearer to look right into the heart of the piece’s singular mechanism. The oval case features some decorations that finish over and above the technical complexity and reliability.
