Spirit of Big Bang Yellow Magic
When someone thinks of an extravagant luxury watch, images of outrageous gold cases swimming in diamonds all over the dial come to mind. But turning up the splendour doesn’t necessarily have to be so extravagant. The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Yellow Magic is certainly loud, but its brilliant yellow ceramic case seems more like a punch of personality than a symptom of aposematism.
It’s an ode to Hublot’s technological understanding of ceramic as a material, because most colours, especially bright ones, are quite difficult to make. The method requires a proper balance of pigments and sintering, which includes heating the ceramic to just below its melting point. If not done correctly, it will result in a blotchy or unstable product.
Spirit of Big Bang Diamonds
The Spirit of Big Bang also achieves sophistication and elegance, with two 32-mm variants demonstrating how elegant the tonneau shape can be despite its sporting twists. The black dial variant with a stainless steel case is quite flexible, while the King Gold and white dial reference is a little more opulent.
Inside the case, there’s a HUB1120 self-winding movement that has 40 hours of power reserve.
