TAG Heuer’s Carrera, this motorsport-inspired watch has become one of the most iconic and influential examples of modern chronograph watches in the world. However, in the early 21st century, Swiss watchmakers began to dabble in reductive versions of the famous Carrera tri compact display to create simpler versions.
After gradually adding the new models, TAG Heuer revisited the Carrera Three Hands series in a big way this year with its 13 new references. The Carrera Three Hands collection consists of four variations, distinguished by case and complications: Carrera Day-Date 41 mm, Carrera Twin Time 41 mm, Carrera Date 39 mm, and Carrera Date 29 mm.
Like the Carrera Chronograph which received major changes in 2020, the Carrera Three Hands model takes inspiration from the dashboard clocks developed by Heuer (the predecessor of TAG Heuer) for cars since the 1930s.
The first model is the 41 mm Carrera Twin Time which has a blue dial with thick rhodium-plated hands and indexes applied with Super-LumiNova. Mounted on the new H-shaped steel bracelet, this is the only model in the new series to be equipped with the GMT function. The complication is paired with a window at 6 o’clock.
The watch is powered by TAG Heuer’s ETA-based automatic Caliber 7, with 21 gems and a 46-hour power reserve.
Also housed in a 41 mm steel case, a second model called the Carrera Day Date, includes four references in the new collection, including the only model mounted on a brown leather strap and the other three are all attached to the new H-shape bracelet.
Seen behind a sapphire crystal caseback, the TAG Heuer Caliber 5 movement, with a frequency of 28,800 vph, a fast date correction function, and a 38 hour power reserve.

Equipped with a Caliber 5 engine, but without a day display to accommodate the smaller case, the third model is the 39 mm Carrera Date, in four different color dial references. There are two black dial models with gold plated hands, one blue sunburst with handset and rhodium index; and a silver one, also with rhodium-plated details.
The last model is for the lady, the 29 mm Carrera Date, a quartet of models with bracelets featuring smooth lugs on the 29 mm case along with a date display at 6 o’clock. The dial is bright blue or pearl white, with rhodium-plated hands.
The watch is powered by the TAG Heuer Caliber 9, a Swiss-made Sellita-based automatic movement with a 40-hour power reserve. Its haute horlogerie details, including gold rotors, are visible from beneath the clear sapphire caseback.
The return of Carrera Three Hands is certainly highly anticipated by fans of TAG Heuer. Among these new 4 models, which one is the most attractive model for you to own? For more information, please visit the nearest The Time Place boutique.
