The Reine de Naples is Breguet’s hallmark watch for females, inspired by a long-lost timepiece from 1812 that may have been the first wristwatch created. The model is available in a variety of models, but the most recent is exceptionally stark but no less graceful: the Reine de Naples 8918 in pink shade.
This new model, like the rest of the collection, has its origins in the nineteenth century. Wristwatches were trendy accessories at the time, having been invented as jewelry that also happened to tell the time. One of the oldest known versions was an egg-shaped bracelet watch given to Caroline Bonaparte, Napoleon’s younger sister, and the Queen of Naples (Reine de Naples in France) in 1812.

With its pink shade, this new timepiece boasts a feminine and refined visual harmony with its rose gold case, its bezel and flange set with 117 diamonds and its crown, which also features a diamond. The dial is light pink and is made of “Grand Feu” enamel in line with true watchmaking tradition.
The off-centre hour circle features a pear-shaped diamond at 6 o’clock, adding elegance to the timepiece. As for the secret signature, it is subtly outlined between the centre of the dial and 3 o’clock.
The 537/3 self-winding movement of the Reine de Naples 8918 beats at a frequency of 3.5 hertz. It is water-resistant up to 30 metres and has a power reserve of 45 hours. The mechanism, which is visible on the back of the watch, is equipped with a silicon escapement and a platinum oscillating weight hand-engraved by the Manufacture’s craftsmen.
To complete this watch, there’s a calfskin leather strap that has matching colors with the dial. Overall, besides boosting the feminine touch of the Reine de Naples collection, this model is resolutely modern and poetically refined and still has its mythical creation touch.
