Breitling is adding a splash of colour to the summer with two vibrant SuperOcean Rainbow models in 36mm and 42mm sizes. The 42mm stainless steel version features rainbow-coloured hands and indexes paired with a bold rubber strap. Meanwhile, the 36mm model sports a steel case, an 18k red gold bezel, and a white ceramic inlay.
Let’s take a deeper look at both models.
Breitling SuperOcean Automatic 36
This isn’t the first time rainbow colours have adorned a Breitling SuperOcean. The original ’57 SuperOcean featured gradient Super-LumiNova colours in yellow, green, blue, indigo, purple, red, and orange.
In 2020, a limited edition of 250 pieces with a black dial was released, followed by a blue version limited to 1,000 pieces. As production of the SuperOcean ’57 ended, the modern SuperOcean models continued the rainbow-coloured design legacy of their predecessors.
This new generation of SuperOcean takes inspiration from the 1970s Breitling ref. 2005 Mk2 SuperOcean “Slow-Motion.” The “Mjölnir” minute hand, named after Thor’s hammer from Norse mythology, mimics the classic chronograph minute hand with a luminous case.
The 36mm version pairs bright indices with a white dial, exuding femininity. Accents of 18k red gold on the bezel and crown add warmth to the cool white bezel inserts and dial.
An 18mm white rubber strap with a stainless steel folding clasp enhances the vibrant colors. The SuperOcean Rainbow 36mm also boasts 300m water resistance, thanks to its screw-down crown and steel case back.
Breitling SuperOcean Automatic 42
The SuperOcean Automatic model in a 42mm stainless steel case receives an update, featuring a black central dial and bezel insert with a touch of silvery white. This rainbow-coloured design on a black base closely resembles the original SuperOcean ’57 rainbow edition from 2020. With a larger and more contemporary case design, seeing this collection adorned with vibrant rainbow accents is refreshing.
The watch also comes with a 22mm Diver Pro IV rubber strap in turquoise, orange, or yellow. This striking strap complements the dynamic hands and includes a micro-adjustable folding clasp for a perfect fit.
Powered by the Breitling caliber 17 movement, the watch boasts the brand’s standard automatic movement for three-hand models. The Sellita-based Breitling 17 offers a 38-hour power reserve and, like all Breitling movements, is a COSC-certified chronometer.
Both watches will be available soon at The Time Place boutiques, and you can explore the rest of the Breitling collection online here.
