The case and bezel of the Panerai Submersible OroCarbo are built of Goldtech, a special alloy of gold, copper, and platinum that gives the watch a stunning red tint without the risk of oxidation or corrosion when exposed to perspiration or seawater.
It’s 44mm in diameter and doesn’t hide any of it, with Panerai’s attitude typically coinciding with larger is better, though a 13.35mm thickness isn’t as bulky as you might anticipate. The massive crown guard adds to the watch’s uniqueness by spreading the quantity of gold across your arm even farther.
The Goldtech bezel incorporates a carbon inlay, completing the OroCarbo moniker and allowing the watch to retain an element of sportiness rather than drifting completely into dress-diver territory if it were made of glossy ceramic.
The dial of the Submersible Goldtech OroCarbo has a stunning sunburst finish. The skeletonised hands are clearly discernible against the black, although given the lack of minute markings, perfect readability has never been the primary focus of this Panerai design.
