At the height of the growing popularity of scuba diving in 1967, IWC also taped in on this trend and introduced their first divers watch dubbed as the IWC Aquatimer.
This iconic model comes with a rotating bezel and two crowns with water resistance up to 200 meters. Then, IWC kept developing this collection with many updated models; one of them is IWC Aquatimer Chronograph.
This model comes with the distinctly puristic design of the dial. The more reserved choice of colors and shapes reference the look of the first Aquatimer released in 1967 and gives it a more modern reinterpretation. Its all-black dial and inner bezel offer a whole new dimension for dive watches.
The internal rotating bezel comes with a SafeDive system designed to prevent inadvertent changes of the dive time, boosts the practical use of the diver’s watch, as does the increase in water resistance to 30 bar.
The stainless steel case comes with a big diameter as the standard size of a dive watch, 44.0 mm, and height of 17.0 mm. It evokes a strong presence at first glance. The case also features a screw in the crown to keep it safe when you bring it inside the water. The protective cover for the sliding clutch system at “9 o’clock” blends seamlessly into the watch’s overall look.
The chronograph function handles single stop times and aggregate timing up to 12 hours and is a reliable companion even on long dives. Even with three subdials and a date and day display, the black dial is remarkably uncluttered.
Ticking away inside the 44-millimeter stainless-steel case is the robust 79320-caliber chronograph movement with a 44-hour power reserve. This movement comes with 240 components, each contributing to its mechanical prowess.
However, the key to its design is in its striped finishing, a well-sought but rare decoration known as Côtes de Genève. This powerful chronograph also offers a chronograph function with hours, minutes, seconds, and day/date display.
Completing this watch is a stainless-steel bracelet that features an IWC bracelet quick-change system so you can change the strap without tools. This watch is perfect for avid athletes that want to look sporty yet classic. Discover the complete IWC collection in your nearest The Time Place boutique.
