The 1960s were a time when the world was full of experimentation, freedom, and energy. Cruising the streets on motorcycles or sports cars, living life at full speed, was the style of the day. Willy Breitling, the third-generation founder of Breitling, was inspired by this to create a chronograph watch that he dubbed “Top Time”.
Right from the start, Top Time was all about action and quickly became a favorite among motorcycle and fashion enthusiasts. One of the first chronographs sought after by men and women alike, its bold graphic design earned it many appearances in magazines and on the big screen.

That vibrant tradition continues today. Breitling partnered with some of the automotive world’s biggest names to create Top Time designs. Those brands include Deus Ex Machina and Triumph Motorcycles for motorcycles, Ford Thunderbird, Mustang, Chevrolet Corvette, and Shelby Cobra for cars.
Top Time’s classic car collection now includes a Ford Thunderbird model with a red strap and white dial. The colored Thunderbird logo and hands that come in pink are really eye-catching. The four old models in the Top Time collection also get an update. Now, they feature a new movement to be proud of, the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01.
This remarkable movement, with its smooth mechanics visible through the exposed sapphire crystal caseback, provides a power reserve of approximately 70 hours and a 5-year warranty. First released in 2009, the Breitling 01 Caliber is one of the most respected chronograph movements in the industry, designed for maximum precision, reliability, and functionality.
As with all Breitling mechanical calibers, each one has earned strict COSC certification. These movements must also pass a long series of shock, winding, and pusher tests. To accommodate such calibers, the Top Time’s stainless steel case has been refined and now provides water resistance of up to 100 metres.
Design elements include a perforated leather racing strap, a speed-measuring tachymeter scale, and contrasting “squirrel” subdials, reminiscent of the indicators on vintage car dashboards. Like its stylish 1960s predecessor, Top Time’s 41mm stainless steel case is a comfortable size for both car and watch lovers.
