Chopard debuted the Alpine Eagle line with plenty of excitement in 2019. The Alpine Eagle XL Chrono, a much-anticipated follow-up to the three-hand Alpine watches, was introduced by Chopard in 2020. For 2022, the brand has introduced two new Alpine Eagle XL Chrono versions that, for the first time, come with matching rubber straps.

The case is still made from lucent steel A223, a steel alloy that was developed by Chopard and Voestalpine Böhler. Known for its anti-allergenic properties, this special steel alloy material has an intensely reflective character and impressive hardness. Made partially from recycled steel, it’s 50% more resistant to abrasion than run-of-the-mill stainless steel.

The Aletsch Blue and Pitch Black dials make a repeat performance. It features a big index and three subdials to support its chronograph function. With its counterweight shaped like an eagle’s feather, the rhodium-plated second hand takes the form of an arrow.

Evoking a spirit of adventure, the crown is engraved with a compass rose, an instrument that has helped adventurers find their way since ancient times. Today, it has become the emblem of contemporary eagles capable of choosing the right direction in the pursuit of their destiny, an invitation to explore the majesty of the natural world that surrounds us.

The watch is still powered by the Chopard Calibre 03.05-C, mechanical self winding movement that has a 60 hours power reserve. This movement, developed exclusively in Chopard’s watchmaking workshops and chronometer-certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute, is so reliable for its accuracy.

The Chopard Alpine Eagle XL Chrono, on the other hand, forgoes the precisely constructed bracelets featured on prior versions in favour of colour-coordinated blue and black straps. Each strap has a titanium inlay and is held together by a pin buckle made of Lucent Steel A223.

The adjustments may appear insignificant, but they have given the Chopard Alpine Eagle XL Chrono an entirely distinct appearance. These current styles, which are perhaps more casual with a hint of sportiness, offer something unique.
