You would think that as advances in technology and watches become more complex and functional, the size of the watches would inevitably increase. Well, some of them did, but the size of many others has decreased. These more minute models have defied traditions. They can be no larger than a delicate locket or a coin, yet they are still able to capture the hearts of watch enthusiasts.

Zenith Defy Skyline 36 mm
The DEFY Skyline in a mid-size 36mm version keeps the angular shape of the original while introducing more modest, unisex proportions that perfectly fit those who prefer a smaller fit. It is crafted in an octagonal steel case with a faceted bezel, featuring the Manufacture’s first patterned dial, revisiting the emblematic four-pointed star found in past ZENITH references.
There’s also a quick strap-change mechanism that allows for easy switching between the steel bracelet and the provided rubber strap. Some of the models are available with brilliant-cut white diamonds on the bezel.
Chopard Happy Sport 33 mm
In 2023, Chopard’s watchmaking expertise enabled them to equip the Happy Sport 33 mm with a mechanical movement featuring an automatic winding mechanism specially developed for feminine cases. The Happy Sport collection is the emblem of Chopard’s creativity and boldness. Its playful, free-spinning gems, dancing between two sapphire crystals, have captured the imagination since 1993, when Chopard became the first Maison to combine steel and diamonds.
Panerai Luminor Due 38 mm
Panerai is introducing pastel dials in blue, green, and pink for the first time in its history, and the Luminor Due 38mm is the brand’s smallest watch to do so. Each of these steel watches has a sandwich dial with a gradient finish that gets darker at the bottom and brighter at the top. The modern design of the self-winding watch is completed with a steel bracelet with links modeled by Panerai’s iconic crown guard.
IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 mm
IWC Schaffhausen introduces the Ingenieur Automatic 40 at the Watches and Wonders exhibition in Geneva. This newly engineered automatic model reflects the bold aesthetic codes of Gérald Genta’s Ingenieur SL, Reference 1832, from the 1970s while meeting the highest standards regarding ergonomics, finishing, and technology.
For this watch, the overall dimensions of the case have been carefully reworked and improved down to the smallest detail. The lug-to-lug distance of 45.7 millimetres ensures perfect ergonomics and excellent wearability, even on a slender wrist. While the Ingenieur SL from the 1970s had nose-shaped horns, the new Ingenieur Automatic 40 features a newly engineered middle-link attachment.
As wrists embrace the artistry of the petite, these watches stand as a testament to the timeless beauty found in the intricate details of compact horological marvels, capturing the hearts of enthusiasts with every tick and tock.
