The Breguet Classique Chronométrie is a great illustration of Breguet’s DNA in a watch that has a 1/10th of a second subdial and a power reserve indication. The Classique Chronométrie ref. 7727 features six rose engine lathe hand guilloché patterns on its dial and is housed in an 18K rose gold case.
In 2014, the Grand Prix ‘Aiguille d’Or’ was awarded to this watch at the GPHG. This is also one of the few Breguets with the innovative 10Hz high frequency escapement, which consists of a magnetic balance with a double balance spring, a silicon lever, and an escape wheel.
The silvered gold dial of the Breguet Classique Chronométrie ref. 7727 has six distinct rose engine lathe hand and carved guilloché patterns. A satin brushed hours chapter ring with Roman numerals, a 60-hour power reserve indicator between 5 and 6 o’clock, a running seconds subdial at 12 o’clock with a superimposed 1/10th of a second indicator at 1, and the iconic Breguet shock-protection pare-chute visible at 2 o’clock makes the dial layout is extremely elegant.
This watch has a beautifully polished case with a diameter of 41 mm and a thickness of 9.65 mm. The watch is fairly slim and beautifully finished with the characteristic fluting along the case band. The Breguet Classique is finished off with a silky brown alligator strap with the characteristic Breguet folding clasp, completing the exquisite appearance of this timepiece.

The new Breguet manual wound calibre 574DR is the throbbing heart of this timepiece. The timekeeping performance of the balance and spring is unrivaled with a balance frequency of 10Hz and has a power reserve of 60 hours when completely wound, despite its high frequency.
The balancing staff, which is held under an artificial gravitational pull, is unaffected by the watch’s different spots, and the circumstances at each pivot stay unchanged. If the balancing staff is knocked sideways by a shock, the mechanism operates like a parachute to return it to its original position, except that magnetic forces re-center the staff to restore maximum magnetic flux. The movement is completely visible through the caseback.
The watch is super comfy and wears really nicely on the wrist. The Grand Prix ‘Aiguille d’Or’ at the 2014 edition of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève was highly earned.
