Audemars Piguet is pleased to introduce a new 34 mm Royal Oak in black ceramic that comes as a limited edition piece. This watch results from AP’s most recent collaboration with Carolina Bucci. In honour of the Royal Oak’s 50th anniversary, the Italian jeweller has produced a dial with a one-of-a-kind multi-coloured mirror appearance that pays homage to the renowned Tapisserie design.
The dial seems black at first glance, but at closer examination, it exposes a multi-coloured spectrum that brings the Tapisserie impression to life with changing light. A sapphire plate studded with small squares generated by micro-structuring is layered on top of the brass dial plate to obtain this outcome, creating a rich rainbow-coloured light play.
A specifically produced golden metallization is also placed to the back of the sapphire plate, creating a mirror effect and shining light onto the dial. The iridescent colour pattern varies from dial to dial, making each watch have its one-of-a-kind dial design.
The hexagonal pink gold screws that lock the bezel on the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Carolina Bucci Limited Edition ref. 77350CE.OO.1266CE.02 emphasizes the black ceramic case and creates an attractive clash of hues. The case and bracelet components are all finished with the Manufacturer’s characteristic satin-finishing, coupled with polished chamfers for maximum light play.
Meanwhile, the bracelet has been tweaked somewhat to improve the aesthetic effect. The pins that connect the links to the studs are now directly incorporated into the studs and are no longer visible from the side.
The “Limited Edition Carolina Bucci” inscription is engraved on the titanium and sapphire caseback, which shows the Caliber 5800 underneath it. The movement features a 22K pink gold oscillating weight with beautiful microbead-blasted, polished, and satin finishes that match the screws, hour-markers, and hands.
Carolina Bucci created the presentation box for this limited edition watch. To respect the 1972 masterpiece, the jewellery designer decided to employ the Tapisserie pattern in relief, getting into the tiniest of details.
